When the new Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance plug-in hybrid hits Australian dealerships in mid-2023, it's expected to cost close to or more than $200,000. This represents a price increase of at least 20%.
The most powerful and priciest iteration of the venerable sports sedan to date will be the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance.
When the first non-V8 model of the top-of-the-line Mercedes-AMG C-Class enters Australian dealerships in the middle of next year, it is expected to cost close to or more than $200,000.
With a clever all-wheel-drive system and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to plug-in hybrid technology, the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance (to use the official term) is a powerful vehicle (see our reveal story here).
Claimed to reach 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, this version of the Mercedes-AMG C63 is also the quickest.
On the other hand, a minimum 20% rise in price is anticipated.
The existing model is advertised for $168,000 plus on-road expenses according to the most recent price guide, while the next version is expected to cost close to or more than $200,000.
June 2023 is when Australian price for the Mercedes-AMG C63 is expected to be revealed, around one month before the car's scheduled July 2023 debut in local dealerships.
"You can expect an increase in price compared to the outgoing car," a Mercedes-Benz Australia spokesperson said to Drive when asked to estimate the cost of the new model. "Considering the level of technology compared to the outgoing car."
According to Mercedes-Benz Australia, preorders for the next AMG C63 won't be accepted until the price is revealed early in 2019.
"Once we know the price, that's when we take official orders. We don't hold orders until the car goes on sale," the spokesperson said.
The spokesman responded, "It's too early to reveal our allocation for Australia, but normally we have a good allocation of C63 because Australia and New Zealand are the biggest markets per-capita in the world," when asked if Australia will receive a good allocation of vehicles or if supply will initially be tight until production ramps up.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has historically sold between 1000 and 1500 AMG C63 sedans annually.
Due to the anticipated high demand for the new AMG C63 and the recent implementation of non-negotiable set rates, Mercedes has announced that it would first distribute cars based on customer loyalty.
We assign automobiles to clients in a number of ways. One component is loyalty. We examine the number of automobiles a client has bought in the past and the number of additional Mercedes vehicles they have in their garage," the spokesperson said.
Many of our loyal AMG customers own multiple AMG vehicles. First-time purchasers are also included in the mix since there is a waiting system in place for them.
"We will try our best to get our fair share of vehicle allocation and get customers into cars as soon as possible, but we haven't received an indication from the factory as to how many cars we are going to get."
