Next year, the 2024 Toyota Prado with hybrid technology will be introduced - report

According to the most recent news coming out of Japan, the first new Toyota Prado in thirteen years is scheduled for release in 2023. There has been conjecture around a diesel hybrid, a petrol hybrid, and a potential V6.

According to a recent source, the 2024 Toyota andCruiser Prado may make its debut the following year, with new hybrid engines as well as a potential V6 turbo-diesel.

The new-generation LandCruiser Prado is scheduled to be unveiled to the public between July and September of 2023, according to Japanese newspaper Best Car, which is well-known for serving as a conduit for Toyota product plan leaks.

The as-yet unsubstantiated report suggests that the Prado will be equipped with a 2.4- or 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that also has hybrid technology and may be turbocharged, in addition to a hybrid version of the current model's 2.8-liter turbo-diesel engine, though Toyota has not confirmed any plans for this.

Best Car said in August 2021 that the Prado and the HiLux and HiAce will share a 2.5-liter diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain.

Earlier this month, Best Car reported that the Prado would use the LandCruiser 300 Series' 3.3-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine. This might be an attempt to counter the upcoming Ford Everest V6 or possibly China's GWM Tank 500.

Although a tuned-down V6 would help set the Prado apart from its bigger LandCruiser sister, the source states unequivocally that the power output is 227kW, the same as the 300 Series.

To further distinguish the two LandCruiser models, the Prado has traditionally been available with smaller engines than those found in the top-of-the-line LandCruiser, which was most recently taken from the HiLux ute lineup.

Best Car and another piece from the Japanese website Creative Trend both imply that the next Prado will be built on the TNGA (or TNGA-F for body-on-frame 4WD cars) global vehicle architecture.

According to Creative Trend, the Prado's chassis will be similar to that of the current LandCruiser 300 Series and, surprisingly, the seven-year-old HiLux.

Toyota recently unveiled the HiLux Rogue, which has wider axles for a bigger tire footprint, revised suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes. These features may be carried over to the Prado or used in the next generation of utes.

The next Prado, according to Best Car, will stay 1885mm wide, the same as the present '150 Series' variant.

Creative Trend has also started referring to the new Prado as the "180 Series," albeit this has not been verified as of yet.

Expect to see several prototypes on the road in 2019 if the claims about the 2024 Toyota LandCruiser Prado's expected unveiling in the second part of the year are true.
