China launches the 2025 Cadillac Optiq electric SUV.

There are currently no plans for the model to arrive in Australia; it is made in Shanghai for the local market.

The new all-electric Cadillac Optiq big SUV has been introduced for the Chinese market by US automaker Cadillac.

Two versions of the 2025 Cadillac Optiq were unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show, however they were only available in China and the US. Models had already started to show up at neighborhood dealerships.

With the introduction of the Optiq, the Cadillac brand now offers a wider range of electric vehicles under the "iq" moniker.

The Optiq is available in two variants: Standard and Long Range. The former is comparable to the Luxury equipment level offered by the brand, while the latter is more equal to the top-of-the-line Sport trim.

Autonomous emergency braking, motorized front leather seats, smartphone virtual key assistance, dual-zone temperature control, a panoramic glass roof, front and rear USB-C connections, wireless Apple CarPlay, and ambient lighting inside are standard equipment in China.

The centerpiece of the vehicle is an incredibly broad 33-inch curved screen that is installed as standard and houses the infotainment system and instruments display.

According to China's more lax test methods, the lower grade has a single motor positioned on the front axle that produces 180kW and 330Nm. It is powered by a 68.4kWh battery pack and has a driving range of 536km (CLTC).

In the meanwhile, the higher-spec option generates 211kW of power and 465Nm of torque by using two motors—one on each axle—to give all-wheel drive. A 600km driving range is stated for the 79.7kWh battery that powers the Long Range (also CLTC).

With a wheelbase of 2954mm, the Optiq's dimensions are 4822mm long, 1912mm wide, and 1642mm height.

The 2025 Cadillac Optiq, which was built especially for the domestic market in Shanghai, is now available for purchase domestically at the brand's IQ boutiques for 269,700 yuan ($AU57,100) for the Long Range and 239,700 yuan ($AU50,750) for the Standard Range.

Although sources from the US indicate it would be in Mexico, the Optiq has also been confirmed for North America. However, it is yet unknown where instances destined for that market will be made.

According to the website GM Authority, parent firm SAIC General Motors, a joint venture with the owner of MG, is actively promoting the Optiq in the Chinese market and is providing incentives like a lifetime guarantee on the electrical system of the vehicle.

Although the Optiq has not yet been confirmed for our market, Drive announced in July 2023 that the brand has been trademarked in Australia.

It is shorter than its five-meter-long electric SUV brother, the Lyriq, which is scheduled to bring the Cadillac brand back to Australia later this year (albeit only in electric form) after a fifty-plus-year hiatus.
