In a short-term move to entice customers away from Toyota, Hyundai Australia has temporarily reduced the drive-away price of its commercial van product.
Taking aim at the category leading Toyota HiAce, which is still dealing with extended wait periods, the 2024 Hyundai Staria Load van has a larger supply of vehicles and a new national drive-away pricing.
With the current price cut of $1,391 in Victoria and $1279 in New South Wales after factoring in on-road expenses, the Staria Load, which debuted in 2022 to replace Hyundai's aging iLoad van, will cost $49,490 drive-away.
The two-seater basic model is the only one eligible for the promotion, which is valid only until 30 April 2024. The five-seat Crew and top-of-the-range Premium models are not impacted.
Additionally, for a short period only, Hyundai is offering a 10% discount on the Staria Load accessory packs.
The South Korean brand has said that it has been "working hard" to ensure a consistent supply of Staria Load and currently has a "healthy production pipeline" and a decent amount of inventory nationwide.
As to Hyundai Australia, this figure encompasses 944 cars available at dealerships around the country, 210 vehicles at the port, and 689 vehicles now on their way to our shores from the company's facility in South Korea.
On the other hand, according to statistics from Price My Car, the wait periods for its main rival, the Toyota HiAce, are rather long and may reach up to 193 days.
Wait times for the HiAce and other popular non-hybrid models, including the LandCruiser 300 Series, Fortune, and LandCruiser 70 Series, were improved, according to a statement from Toyota made earlier this month to Drive.
